In The Shadows Poem by Robert Sheridan

In The Shadows

Blackest of grief's - de-pieced piece by excruciating piece
Peer into my shadow - un-driven despairingly from the dawn
Small intensities cast away – another love gone awry
Any possible light gray shadowed – obliqueness thrown at me
Shadows of my feelings – erased by darkness’ thief
No longer can any possible love light – decayed as shadows rise
Fragments of any emotion – fragmented, can no longer tow romance’s line
Trying desperately to cling – shadows of desperation bleed me to a new degree
Night’s always arriving 10x’s faster – exaggerates the shadows to the nines
I am a weakened substance – hollowed-out, your cold heartedness has eviscerated me
Emotional roller coaster – another possible love paints a portrait of a shadow, de-religiously
Somehow I’m always afraid to cross love’s imaginary line – delusions cut me off at the please
Your young eyes deceive – the shadows cause you to cast dead flowers at me
As I try once again to piece back together my shattered love – somehow I can’t see as the shadows rearrange the light, their darkened laughter scatters my past, my present, and my future into a million pieces – thrown against light’s window, piece by piece; I beg the shadows to no longer disassemble my heart, my feelings, etc., etc., the glass of the window, now broken, cuts my dreams into a million and one pieces – can no longer stay focused, my eyes are deceived, as I try to cope, in the shadows, I can no longer believe...
