In The Silence Of This Workless Day Poem by Shalom Freedman

In The Silence Of This Workless Day

IN THE SILENCE OF THE WORKLESS DAY

In the silence of the workless day
I lose myself-
Meaninglessness irritates-

What is it all about
When I can do nothing in it?

Rest Peace Prayer Food
What are they?

A man needs to use his mind
A man needs to think and work
And dream and write -

I come back to myself now
With these words-

Worthless or not
I believe again in my life
When I write them.
