In These Times Poem by Andrea Lynn

In These Times

Rating: 5.0

The bubble has burst
We are left here to worry
People without jobs losing their homes
Wall Street left in a hurry

Companies get bailed out
Paying execs a huge bonus
While people lose their life savings
Crying 'what about us? '

Obama talks of change
Which is needed at the core
Accepts a peace prize
While continuing with war

Genocide in Darfur
Global warming convention called
As the weather gets worse
It will take its toll then take us all

Shelters are overcrowded
People need blankets and socks
So many causes crying out
That most of them get lost

We must not continue
Lost in ignorant bliss
And instead come together
To demand more than this.
