In Touch Poem by Ima Ryma

In Touch

I am a Lady oft alone,
But never of a lonely heart.
I share with all, all that's my own.
Each visitor makes me a part.
I'm touched by ups and downs of life.
The birth of a babe at my feet.
The death from suicidal strife.
Touched by victory and defeat.
Millions have touched me in and out.
And I await the millions more.
That's what my being is about,
For all ahead and all before.

I, the Statue of Liberty,
Am all the people touching me.
