Infectious Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Infectious

Infectious carriers of intelligence.
Treated as if lepers shunned.
And accused of spreading common sense.
Ostracized.
Quarantined.
Ensuring for social reasons,
A kept and maintained distance...
Could possibly prevent,
Such a life threatening disease.
Similar but worse than leprosy.
Can and would save the people,
From becoming victims...
Of their minds being threatened.
To cause a thinking process,
Left to leave them...
Severe with thoughts to enter,
Into their heads.
And ears unblocked.

But all must adhere,
To the latest law authorized.
By those who sit high and mighty.
Hoping their nonstopping,
Incompetent nonsense.
Remains to be permitted not to notice,
Just how effective the people will accept...
The quality of their lives,
Slowly diminishing from their eyes.

Yet told this to accept,
Believe or not...
Is actually the beginning of a cure.
They must endure.
Until a vaccine is produced.
Inducing,
A permanently erasing of common sense.
And the causes of it to eliminate,
By those carriers of intelligence.
Ostracized and quarantined.

And heard are kept promises,
Made...
That this vaccine,
To be so effective.
Becoming the 'rage'.
Will keep them immuned,
From using their minds forever.

However...
Remaining patient.
With fingers crossed,
Is a must to obey that law.
Until that day arrives.
Tolerance is the key.
And belief to maintain it,
Will sustain their delusions.
Like none before ever to have known.

"This is exciting news.
Is there an estimated time,
We should anticipate that vaccine? "

-Sure.-

"And...
When will that be? "

-Soon.-
