Innocence Poem by Rishi Menon

Innocence

Rating: 5.0

I look at the sky and look to the sea
Deep blue they seem to me
I look at the forest and the lagoon
They are green as can be

The child in me has ceased to exist,
The wonder and awe long gone
I don't want to know what makes the breeze or why
Just want to watch the clouds roll by

I pluck at my heartstrings
And squeeze at the pain
To get it to flow onto the canvas
But see an empty page every time
And wonder, will it ever come across

I've learnt to relate and understand
I've learnt to make my stand
But innocence lost, I shall never play again
In the sand

Ash (Rishi's Dad)
