Innocence Poem by Nancy M. Godfrey

Innocence

Rating: 5.0

Paper doll made of indigo ink
Soul devoid of concealment
Naked and pure.
Reflection of innocence
Exposed by daylight.

Old fears that light would dwindle away to shadowy hour
Blanketing purity of hope and dreams moment by moment
Gave day a thumbprint then disappeared.
Fragrance of life remains in a lonely world
Etched in tattered fragments of memory.

Loved reading your poem, though I did not quite understand the first stanza. 'Fragrance of life remains in a lonely world Etched in tattered fragments of memory.' - So beautifully said! Loved these lines.
