Inside Her Poem by Jodie Mayhew

Inside Her

A Candle flickers dimly..
..In The Window
Outside; The Night Alive
with Winter Skies
Inside; ..She Sits Alone
She Sits in Silence
Inside; ..she always hangs her head and cries.

Each day goes by with nothing ever changing
She's lost herself somewhere along the way
Regretful Thoughts and HOPE
is All she has now
The HOPE that all returns to her someday.

She tries each day to find a single answer
To Overcome her Bitter, Lonely War
At Times..She Wonders Why she keeps on fighting
At Times..She Wonders What she's fighting for.

Her Mind in Combat
Yet a Heart So Gentle
Her Soul in Troubled torment..So Alone
And yearning for simplicity, contentment
She suffers through this torture..On Her Own.

At Night...She Falls Asleep with Teardrops Falling
Frustratedly..Her Heart a Constant Ache
In Dreams.. she sees..A Life so Very different
But..Morning Brings Back sadness when she wakes.

Again the Day goes by...
...So Long..So Endless
She sits and thinks of yesterday awhile
Remembering; when life was filled with sunshine
Remembering; what it once felt like to Smile.

As Darkness Looms Again
She Frets by Moonlight
Her Eyes well up...A Tear slides down her cheek
In Prayer..A Desperate Plea
A Bright Tomorrow
In Prayer...She Softly Cries Herself to Sleep.

Outside...In Winter Skies
The Howling Winds Blow
And Like Pain..It seems the Storm will never cease
Inside...A Lonely person Fights
Direction of her wind
A Fight To Find
Inside.....A Place of Peace.
