Insomnia Poem by Elijah Reed

Insomnia

I can't sleep and I'm clueless why
when every time I hope and try
to catch a few winks
with this burn, it stinks
I find myself perched awake, insane
my rocking chair takes me to this new plane
I sit, I write, and lord I pray
that slumber will catch up to me today
But I know now that dreams won't come
all I really do is sit on my bum
and i overthink life
add pain, add strife
till it becomes something that I don't love
I get so willing to leave it for that place up above
That place where you don't need a name
where everything there is just a game
and every day remains the same.
The place where you need a buzz
and rep don't stick to you like fuzz
But I know now that place ain't meant for me
not yet, cuz I gotta die properly
I know I'm only gonna be worth my death
the moment when I realised I've reached last breath.
I know i need to end it all with something meaningful,
but first comes getting my sleep.
