Into Myself Poem by Naomi Rubinstein

Into Myself

Looking into myself
Cold and afraid
Reflection showing
Mirror image
Though I am not astray

Ripples forming
Across the surface
Clear as daybreak
Falling deeper
Into slumber
My mind is not retained

Looking into myself
Means that I may not return
Thoughts that I never had before
Showing their face
And everything returns

Waking up to this nightmare
Fearful as the day goes on
More and more I grow weary
I come to a close

Tears fall into place
Pulling myself out of slumber
Plunging into darkness
Despair rising hope failing
Under the light
