Into The Lungs Of Meaning Poem by Raj Dronamraju

Into The Lungs Of Meaning

Carol voiced out that air is not important
And made an argument for art as sustenance
And mind as stomach, mind as air
She argued that mental suffocation leads to wars, prejudice, fanaticism

I'll breathe in her argument, great draughts of free expression
I'll exhale intolerance and religion
As natural as respiration is, others need to break her words down
And a nod in agreement became just as important as the sound of affirmation

Sticking needles in puffed out shirts without intellect
They rub against you and spill their pomposity
Advised to keep our chests clear of their poisonous exclamation

I'll run up stairs like Rocky
And I'll celebrate at the top with arms raised because I have bested their poisonous nonsense
Locked into pop culture's waning thrall, the rest gasp in bursts of clueless asphyxiation
