Introducing Dr. Gustav Poem by Pasquale DiMeola

Introducing Dr. Gustav

Out of the storybooks marching along rocky roads
Waddled a long procession of melancholic children
Pulling black balloons parading the sullen death
Of a warm feeling zoned by the grandfather clock
Removed from the view of myriad endless twilights
Those sinister pied pipers charmed all the youngsters
Across hidden threats lurking the unknown paths
Every child passes through as life goes forward
Although many hands held on to peppermint bushes
Stormy winds of years blew them hopelessly harder
Some even retreated home to their animated attics
Opening cartoon doors smeared with sticky cobwebs
Only to be greeted by parts of deteriorated toys
Shamefully eaten with dusty negligence of timelessness
Forgotten about when the flowers lost their scent.
