Inventing Memory Poem by Harlequin Rose

Inventing Memory

Rating: 4.0

A secret letter
floats past her lips
as she lingers in the doorway
between virgin white
and truth
at the edge of her eyes
is a poem
lyrics that began
before her words were formed
and before she realized
she wanted the poem
more than the lover
he calls her beautiful
but she abandons him for his poems
because simply being beautiful is boring
and so she takes the letter
folds it into a square
and tucks it away
into a safe place.

Great image. I like the phrasing of the last four lines.
