Invisible Man Poem by Paul Butters

Invisible Man

Have you ever been alone at a party?
Nobody talks to you.
All couples and huddles.
CROWDS of little groups.
You try to “circulate”
But no-one is interested.
Ever felt completely invisible?
I have.

Next time go with a circle
Of tried and trusted friends.
Or try to check out who will be there
And what they are like.
Will you be bored by cars
Houses, babies, financial times,
Fashion and must haves?
Will you be ignored
Again?

Ever wondered
Why couples and groups go home early?
Maybe they were invisible too!
