Invite The Fire Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Invite The Fire

Where is the grass on earth so green?
There’ll be no need to move
What else should lustful eyes have seen?
Or selfish egos prove

Some think they’re God and seek to reign
From truth they won’t be told
They live their lives on earth in vain
With all their worldly gold

Some think God’s Son should condescend?
Once more for them to die
They think His Father’s knee should bend?
Their sin to rise on high

One thing this world must understand
One thing our hearts must see
Man the produce of Jesus’ hand
Has God to bend the knee

The Lord our God is no man’s fool
Supreme He reigns alone
While for His feet this world’s a stool
Heaven’s His mighty throne

By word alone creation came
By word alone it thrives
Today God’s Word comes as a Flame
To purge our sinful lives

But do we want a righteous life?
Desire Salvation’s cure?
Is man so used to endless strife?
Must war with God endure?

God’s peace will dawn with man’s desire
When humble hearts cry loud
When man invites Salvation’s Fire
And wait The Saviour’s cloud
