Iris Poem by Kasia Fedyk

Iris

Rating: 1.7

She's special
I visit her as often as I can
Her plump face and rosy cheeks make me smile
As I sit with her I see the past in her eyes
And at that moment I wish I could read her mind
She doesn't say a word
Just stares at the space before her
I think I see a tear, a little one
At the corner of her eye
I choose not to ask, I just sit there
And watch, as I love her dearly
She knows that,
I'm her friend.
I walk up to her and extend my arms
In an embrace, she accepts
And welcome me with a smile
I know she is content at this time
But she remembers it all
Her whole life, like a movie
I will never see it, but I can imagine
So we sit in silence for a while
And she speaks
Her word a whisper, thank you
I smile, and at that moment I understand it all
