Is Anyone A Virgin Anymore? Poem by Ramona Thompson

Is Anyone A Virgin Anymore?

Rewrite of Meatloaf's Is Nothing Sacred Anymore

Does anyone else carry a resolve as strong as ours?
To prove we're cool
Do we really have to behave like the rest and go all the way?
Does that really make any sense at all?
If love so deep and true
Can't stand to wait through the test of time
Then maybe just maybe
Mount Everest could slide and Jerusalem could fall

Is no one a virgin anymore?
Is virginity just another word?
Is a purity promise something people used to use when sex was worth waiting for?
I just have to know
I just have to ask
Is abstinence just a lie?
Is abstinence really just a lie?
Is no one a virgin anymore?
Ohh, could someone tell me please
Is abstinence really nothing more then just a lie?

So many say the words
But can we believe what is being claimed and said?
Feels like my head is endlessly spinning around
I don't know anymore what's wrong or right
It seems all anyone wants anymore is someone to fulfill
Their latest wet dream
Never thought that I would ever feel this lost and unfound

Is no one a virgin anymore?
Is virginity just another word?
Is a purity promise something people used to use when sex was worth waiting for?
I just have to know
I just have to ask
Is abstinence just a lie?
Is abstinence really just a lie?
Is no one a virgin anymore?
Ohh, could someone tell me please
Is abstinence really nothing more then just a lie?

Is no one a virgin anymore?
Is virginity just another word?
Is a purity promise something people used to use when sex was worth waiting for?
I just have to know
I just have to ask
Is abstinence just a lie?
Is abstinence really just a lie?
Is no one a virgin anymore?
Ohh, could someone tell me please
Is abstinence really nothing more then just a lie?

You could ask the same question of other virtues and ideals which have now come to pass. It's a changing world and we could only lament the dying of cherished conventions. Youth will always be different but they are just reacting to the conventions of a former generation. Nice write.
