Is Today Tomorrow Or Yesterday Poem by mark glaser

Is Today Tomorrow Or Yesterday

Is Today Tomorrow or Yesterday

Sitting upon my deck,
I looked out upon the wood.
A small lit cigar in my left hand,
My head perched upon my right hand clutching the lighter within.

What was I thinking?
How do I express my feelings?
A silly man am I in many way,
It defies sway.

What I’ve done over the past few months is write poetry.
It started with you out of the need to clarify,
What my feelings were for you.

You liked my poems,
My friends thought they were good too.

Everything I said I meant.

What I do when upset is eat what makes me fat,
I can even do that.
Pizza is usually the culprit,
Its grease and starchy and awfully tasteful,
But it won’t remove the wasteful.

Our relationship has had it acme and nadirs,
Where is it now?

When I’m with you,
I’m another person.
Calm, safe from myself,
Like you with me.

Love can do that,
Make you into who you really want to be.
All the poems expressed my deepest thoughts,
Love can’t be vacuumed cleaned from the soul,
It stays until it days old,
Like fresh bread that hardens and becomes stale,
It is revived dipping it into a soup of ale.

The bread reborn to be gone,
Our love is to be to be Bourne.
