Islands Without Sea Poem by Joseph Narusiewicz

Islands Without Sea

All this distance
Worlds apart yet there it is
We live amidst the cold winds
Lamont silver candles without heart

Old photos like summer sun
Time changes like a silent chill

She sleeps with unawareness of my pain
I play like a prison yard
Disconnected and civil
Vacuous gray sentences
Slow withdrawal
Muster your lust in place of love
Count the compensations
Superficial ribbons and bows
Frost on the trees
All the diminished returns

Islands without sea
