Isomniac Hallucinations Poem by Maggie Jacob

Isomniac Hallucinations

Be it a summer night, I still feel cold
The toil to sleep has now grown old
Everyone up there is now asleep
When the deathly darkness goes deep
To every aching heart and bone
To every desperate soul alone
Wondering why not leaveth tonight
Then I wont have to face the cruel light

But as the fan blew the curtains waved
My eyes though to darkness slaved
Could make out the shadows grow long
Could hear the curtain's song
The sound of many singing souls
A tune from the curtain poles

Then the screens reached beyond me
I turned around, and my room i couldn't see
Instead I saw the light of the moon
Instead I heard the curtain's tune
I knew I was lost in the midnight folds
Sheltered from the draught of cold
Just like all the singing souls
Who play the tune on the curtain poles

Then I feel an anonymous force
Drag me out of no remorse
The curtains waved desperately
I implored to not forsake me me
But the fan blew on, and the curtains waved

My eyes though to darkness slaved
Could make out the shadows grow long
Could hear the curtain's song
Could feel my fingers go numb
Could feel to cold I'd succumb
I knew my blood would freeze soon
And I'd be dead along with the moon
