It Could Have Been You Poem by Shogunoka Ledesma III

It Could Have Been You

Sparkling diamonds on the blue blanket
Of the midnight sky
I could have imagine if
Your eyes glisten like that

But I was thinking of someone else
As I am sure
You were thinking of another
But the stars do sparkle tonight
And I wonder now
If your eyes can look upon me
Like the sparkling diamonds

And you are so far away
Like all heavenly bodies
I can just look up and wonder
From a distance
Your stellar eyes do beckon me
Towards your setting gravity

Why are there a billion stars?
When I only need one
How I was so blinded
By the glare of the golden sun
Among the billion sparkles
I would be seeking one diamond
And It could have been you…
