It's The Rule Poem by Joyce Hemsley

It's The Rule

Humour intended.

We shiver in the ice-cold snow
Sneezing and coughing as we go.
Some schools are closed
But our school is not.
We have to be there on the dot.
I said 'goodbye' to brother John
He still had his night-clothes on.
Nothing's fair in ice and snow
Slipping and sliding - I should know.
John is lucky ~ but it's the rule...
He stays home, whilst I'm at school.
