It Takes A Brave Fellow Poem by Francis Duggan

It Takes A Brave Fellow

It takes a brave fellow to smile in defeat
And say by the better one i have been beat
And not make excuses and of the winner say
The better man by far did win on the day
Though losing is a thing anyone would not choose
For one for to win others do have to lose
But the loser with a smile that the winner on his win congratulate
In his own noble way is an unsung great
It takes a brave fellow though in defeat feeling down
To walk with a smile on the streets of the town
And despite disappointment say hope in him is not dead
Of happier times and a big win of him ahead
And though of his dream of winning he did not succeed
To smile in defeat it takes a brave one indeed.
