Its The Law Poem by Gordon D Wilkinson

Its The Law

Rating: 3.7

Community punishment instead of jail
This makes the public face go pale
Soft punishments is what they dish out
Judges do they know, what crime is all about?

Laughing criminals as they walk out justices door
Sticking two fingers up at the law
Eye for an eye used to be the code
Too many reformers over this argument rode

Leniency they said, that is what we need
Old sentences then supersede
Do they care about old poor victims’ plight?
I think it is a case of “I am alright”

Flouting the law will continue to grow
Maybe because the reformers said so
Back to the good old ways
Then criminals’ freedom pays

Lock them up and throw away the key
It is idiotic to let them roam free
Bring back the noose
No more murderers on the loose

Protect the good
Lock away the hood
Governments will come and go
Without action the problem will grow

Not one law for the rich
Another for the poor
The right sentence to pitch
Let the criminals endure
