Jacques Cartier Park Poem by Steven B Taylor

Jacques Cartier Park

Nature

Jacques Cartier Parc

Opus 16

A velvet carpet made of green
Surrounds me as I ponder,
This beautiful setting, so serene
Makes heart and mind both wander.

The pillows of the clouds above
Could take my weary head.
The warmth of sun upon the cove,
They seem by nature wed.

The waters of the river swift,
Descend from hill to vale.
This moment I would like to drift
Upon them to the dale.

I can no other place on earth
Compare with this great setting.
It lifts me up, beyond my birth,
To a much higher getting.

I hear the songs of birds around.
They sing an uninhibited song.
I could have spent the day in town.
I'm glad I came along!

All these and more have made my day
In nature's fair, grand hall,
A time for musing and for play.
The dancing to a lover's call!

God's love's expression is in giving
Of his own self to another.
I know that I am truly living,
And nature is my mother!

If there's more joy in life than this,
On earth a greater amenity.
Could share it with a friend's my wish,
And give her my serenity.
