January - Poem by McKenzie Nofer

In the dark frigid air of January
A purple-ish haze coils
around the bare bark
Looking out at the neighboring houses
the black fingers crawling out of the smokey chimneys
that fill the bored sky
Snow atop everything in sight
In the dark frigid air of January
