Japan, August 1945 Poem by Joyce Hemsley

Japan, August 1945

'Hiroshima' and 'Nagasaki'
names that linger on the mind,
and when we examine our history books
many horrific stories unwind.
Atomic bombings, overpowering to man
shook and destroyed the heart of Japan.
Victims in thousands lost their lives...
poor innocent people could never survive
the catastrophe of nineteen forty-five.
