Jayanta Mahapatra As A Poet Poem by Bijay Kant Dubey

Jayanta Mahapatra As A Poet

Jayanta Mahapatra as a poet
Is first of all
An imagist,
A photographer
Then an Oriya,
A pencil artist
Making silhouettes,
A marker of man-woman relationship
Intriguing and bewitching,
Absurdist
Inducting absurdities
Of this living and creation,
A nihilist,
An existentialist,
A lover bodily,
A feminist,
A realist,
Eco-centric,
Cartographic and coastal
Mapping Orissa
And the Orissan landscapes
Vedic,
Upanishadic,
Historical,
Architectural,
Sculptural,
Archival,
Museumological,
One of the dark daughters,
Devadasis and nautch girls
Drawing from
The terracotta plates
Embossed on the temples.
