Jenny And Danny Poem by Joyce Hemsley

Jenny And Danny

Sweet little Jenny had a brother
Born on the very same day
Such very special twins were they
Always happy and gay!
Now they held a birthday party
At four o'clock on the eighth of May
They both invited friends around
To enjoy the special day.

There was fizzy lemonade to drink,
With cake and chocolate ice-cream
But as they all sat down for tea
Jenny heard Danny scream...
Across the carpet, they could see
One slimy lizard scurrying along
And ~ from that very moment
The party went 'all wrong'.

It was goodbye to Jenny and Danny
The Lizard gave them such a shock!
So mummy invited their friends for tea
On May the ninth at four o'clock.
But no-one went back to the party
Arranged for the ninth of May.
Sweet Jenny cried and Danny cried too
And Mummy? ...well she cried all day.
