Jhene Aiko Poem by Kewayne Wadley

Jhene Aiko

Rating: 5.0

Suddenly I felt a surge run through my bones,
The very essence of need was met
She appeared out of nowhere
Vibrant brown eyes
elegant the way the light shone off her shoulders
The crowd went wild
Jumping around, shouting
This sensation kept quiet, shown all around me
The nights spent in silence listening with my headphones
Reading the lyrics to every song
Syncing my lips with hers
Verbatim
I was face to face with this woman I barely knew
I related to every song.
Closing my eyes
Putting myself in place of her microphone
My heart was instantly filled
Hearing her in person
Seeing every expression
The slight gestures her hands made
The absolute joy of watching her smile
Her eyes closed baring her very soul
I felt privileged as every time her eyes opened
was like receiving a gift
Her brilliant hair shone, caressing the nape of her neck
Continuing to reach down
The way she vocalized, the amount of emotion printed across her face
She sung a loud what she felt
What couldn't be held in any more
An explosion of butterflies littered the air
Meeting mine half way
Those big round eyes that could have spoke without having to say a word
We made public our late night affair
The many times her voice filled me with life
This urgency that continuously made my heart flutter
She sung on inviting the melody to follow right behind
Surely an invitation of what was kept inside to come alive, right inside of me
A deliverance of comfort
Insisting that she would always be there
In the memories made with closed eyes
as she disappeared off the stage
