Jim Poem by Toni Atchison

Jim

I wonder how you made it
inside my inner sanctum.
Breaching barriers carefully erected
to keep the world at bay.
And then I hear your voice.......

When you say my name
in that certain way,
I can hear all in one word-
passion and pride,
a need so powerful
it shakes you to your core.
And I yearn for you.

To see your eyes,
to feel your hands,
for the taste of whiskey
and cigarettes on your lips.
Ambrosia to an addict.

Set me free to wander your mind;
to bask in the light of that huge intellect-
light and sharp as a blade.
I wander aimlessly, happily...
lost in you.
