Jim Younger Boone



My namesake, Jim Younger, of
The famous Younger Brothers,
Suffered from depression and
In 1902, after a dozen years in
Federal prison with brother Cole,
Younger, Jim killed himself, how,
History has yet to tell me; no matter.

A "This is too much" Jim Boone
Tried to kill himself in 1962
And got his stomach pumped;
Came close to trying in 2007
And got locked up in a psych ward.

The Younger connection was through my
Paternal grandmother, Ada Jane Younger Boone.
After her cousin Jim ‘done himself in', his
More famous brother, Cole, was, as they say,
‘Born again' and sang in the church choir
Until he died of ‘natural causes' in 1905.

The next year, on January 3, Lorene Aven
Was born, later married Clyde Boone,
Begat a Joe and ‘oops', Jim Younger
Reincarnated as a Jim Boone in 1937.

So, a famous outlaw became a nomad
Homosexual who lived on the Gypsy
Path, how, or why we will never know.
