Jimmy Loves Crackers! Poem by Robert Edgar Burns

Jimmy Loves Crackers!

Little Jimmy sure likes crackers,
That’s all I ever saw him eat.
We would offer him cake or cookies,
He refused that along with meat.

The minister was giving the blessing,
At a picnic right after church.
“Give us this day our daily bread”
Were the words that Jimmy heard.

“Pastor, Pastor, can I interrupt you? ”
The Pastor said “Go ahead! ”
Could you ask the Lord for crackers,
Cause I’m not that fond of bread? ”

“Give us Lord our daily crackers, ”
Was inserted in their prayers forever more,
For little Jimmy put his faith in God,
And taught a lesson to all both rich and poor.
