Joey - Lincoln Park Zoo Poem by Ima Ryma

Time for this joey to peek out
And see what there is worth to see,
And what is all the fuss about -
Those humans trying to see me.
Something told me when I was born
To crawl a ways on Mama's fur
Into her pouch that I've since worn
Around the milk machine - for sure!
Here is what I've picked up to date,
Marsupial, sex not yet known,
Australian red kangaroo, mate.
Will stay in pouch until more grown.
