Joshua Poem by Lawerence Mize, Sr.

Joshua

It's always darkest
Before the dawn
The breeze blows coolest
Before the storm

God blocks the way
On our trail of life
Throws in a test
To make us fight

He lets us know
We can't give up
Need to continue on
To make things right

In good times and bad
He's by our side
We're merely along
For the journey...the ride

I know this to be true
I lived through a war
A soldier I was
Nothing more

Saw men at their worst
And at their very best
All met on hallowed ground
To take their test

We never knew
If we'd succeed or fail
Those who survived
Got to tell their tales

Joshua's in a place
Where he needs to fight
Not with fists, but
With spirit and might

He'll win out
Get better each day
He'll come back strong
Knowing...It's just God's way
