Joy Poem by Elia Michael

Joy

What joy it is to wake and see the sun,
To welcome pleasant warmth into my chamber;
These golden shafts ensure my heart is won.
Let thanks and praises glorify this member
Of heavenly bodies seen in the sky.
What joy it is to be alive today,
To look outside and see a cloud go by;
To see a brightly coloured little jay
Which chatters, ending in a loud crescendo.
I feel alive and all is well with me,
As I do smile and look outside my window.
Today, I feel so wonderfully free.

Alas, such days are few and far between,
And some days, should never, ever have been.
