Judgment Day Poem by Leila Ired

Judgment Day

I sit
and see
a judgment day
eight people's pasts
in an echoing room

What I never would
have thought important
these words
that expression
are a salve
are a poison
dissolved
reconstructed
torn apart
and resewn

until
I stand
and I stand
unquailing

my words like an arrow
spoken like truth
blazing like lightning
to the ears of a judge

I would spell judgment without the 'e'. options for the title: the courtroom, judgment day, justice, power of justice, voice of justice.
