June....June....June....June Poem by Frank James Ryan Jr...fjr

June....June....June....June

Call it Author's Tradition, but since I penned
the below work in early June of 2007 & I have
reposted it each year since 2010.In mid June of
2007, it debuted in the main PH Top 500 Poems List
(before there was a Members Only List) at No.364
Two weeks later it broke the Top 100 & remained
there until the Spring of 2010, when I decided to
revise several areas of the work & repost it fresh.
The work is a 7 time award winner, and seems to be
a fairly steadfast favorite on numerous sites, as
well as local poetry clubs in my community. The
strangeness(for me) about the piece, is that:
(1) I am not an advocate of Rhyme, albeit there
are are certain situations when Rhyme adds to
the flux/cadence of a particular work and when
so, I have occasionally gone with it.(2) I thought
nothing much of the original finished product and
almost tossed it in the circular file.(3) It took
me less than 20 min. to pen, and that in itself
was telling me, 'Frankie babe, don't post that out! ! !
Bottom line, after a revision or two, I shot it out
on PH and at the time, also in the infamous PH Forum,
AKA: 'The Hell Den' for its custom to eviscerate all
postings of all newbies, which at the time I basically
was, with only a years dabbling with the Written Word
behind me....Anyway, June hath commeth again, fellow
sages of wordsmithing, and thus, so has the below work...
AGAIN!
Hope you enjoy...FjR

This is for June n' all the Summers it brings
Wind chasing bells of a Church steeple ring
Olde songs of wedlock over top hat, an' lace
'fore June passes torch...to July's scarlet face

Grown trees, full jackets of multi-hue green
The last pink magnolia leaf still can be seen
Ther's a breeze in the air that carries a scent
Of sweet honeysuckle......fresh efflorescence

Night casts its chill...yet June has its motive
A bright ardent globe... a lovers sweet votive
Moonlight romance, 'neath a nautical breeze
Make lov' in June dance like starshine on sea
