Juno Poem by Peter Black

Juno

Cherry roses and sweet things your hopes up,
Are in the sight of eyes that split the light,
Make new colors, stones for a diadem.
Spectrum bursts, your eyes such colors contain
And make me say,
I love this girl with lemon drop hair,
That weaves sunlight into its waving chords,
And hope to see,
You there with innocence and lust laughing,
Turning up both sides of your lips,
At once both refusing and offering a kiss;
But I do not know you.
So leave fancy behind its bolted door,
Until he becomes desire
And screams fire, unless I let go my hold.
I would come with lilies, morning glories,
With soap wort hidden among the stems
And take your hand,
To give you gumdrops and sugar candy,
And ask you who you are.
