Just a few years ago
I left her at the airport
Sweet, radiant smile; smiling bright eyes
Telling me to come back,
Safe, happy,

And I did come back
But she just was not there
Only two, properly down-cast eyes
The rest hidden in black
Sad, uncanny.

Just a few years ago
Something sweet, innocent!
Now, unspoken sin, compliant,
Willingly hidden in black.
Safe? Or just unhappy?
