Just Another Sunday Poem by Rick Elpers

Just Another Sunday

This mourning I awoke
To what must be death
For my heart no longer
Has any blood for hope
Drinking coffee trying
To wake up to this day
I carry her picture with
This heart that grows
Darker each moment
Negative where light
Is shadow and grays
Are white like opposites
We now have become
And what with you away
I do wonder if anything
You do now ever lies
To your heart believing
That you are freely
Running to your destiny
With open arms that once
Were meant for me
Then I shake it away
Only to peer into my grave
