Just Because Poem by Jaime Johnson

Just Because

Just because I can’t hate you
For the injustice you have done
Don’t think I’ll all of a sudden forgive you
Don’t think the breaking of my heart can just be undone
Just because we’re not together anymore
Just because you’re free
Just because my shadow doesn’t darken the step of your door
Don’t forget about me
I hate it that we didn’t talk as much as we should have
I thought we were perfect
Now I feel a broken heart’s wrath
I didn’t see our fatal defect
Don’t forget about the feeling of my being in your arms
Don’t forget about the first time we made love
Did you forget your promises to keep me from harm?
Don’t forget about us
Please, baby, don’t let me go
Let out what feeling you have left
Let it show
Don’t leave me bereft
I’m a person
Just like you
I don’t like to be shunned
Do you?
Just because I still love you
Just because I still care
Don’t think I will so easily forgive you
Don’t forget what you did to me was unfair
