Just Like Paul Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Just Like Paul

They thought the light had struck him dead
As Paul was helped up blind Ac.9: 8
Damascus gates lay straight ahead
Could healing there, they find?

What comfort could the future bring?
’Twas God! who’d sent the light
Would blindness, be a temporary thing? Ac.9: 11
Could time, restore his sight?

Such thoughts were in the mind of Paul
Till Ananias; came Ac.9: 10
He said “Arise my brother Saul
The Christ, has bore your shame

Receive the truth of Christ the Lord
Be filled with Power on high Ac.9: 17
Now put away your evil sword
Before more; brothers die”

Like Saul, the Lord can change our; name
Can change our sinful heart
Can through His Holy Ghost and Flame
Give each a brand new start

Though liar, thief, killer or cheat
Regardless what we’ve done
What in this life has brought defeat
There’s victory in God’s Son

Through light, we too like Paul can see
Can grow in strength and love
Can heal the sick, set captives free
Through power of Jesus’ Dove

Whom God’s ordained as king and priest
Whatever life’s bestowed
Can live, can fight the devil’s beast
From their; Damascus road………
