Just You And Me Poem by Lora Colon

Just You And Me

Rating: 4.7

It's two in the morning, everyone's gone,
Usually they all stay until dawn;
The smoke has cleared - I can finally see,
This is how I like it, just you and me

I prefer we chat when no one's around,
We say so much without making a sound;
I guess this is how it will always be,
Alone together - just you and me

I was thinking of you earlier tonight,
I knew I'd see you if I timed it just right;
I have to plan everything carefully,
Come sit over here - it's just you and me

Every evening I wait for the sun to go down,
Ah, the midnight chime - what a welcome sound;
Then I'm overtaken by a blessed fatigue,
I close my eyes, and it's just you and me

Let's do something crazy tomorrow - by the shore,
Maybe a picnic - we've never done that before;
I'll lay a blanket on the starlit sea,
And we'll drift away - just you and me

Tomorrow, the next day, it's always the same,
Counting the hours, I prepare for the game;
I've gotten pretty good at this fantasy -
There never was you - it's always been just me

I've gotten pretty good at this fantasy - There never was you - it's always been just me A beautiful romance ends up in a great tragedy.
