Kalob's Balcony Poem by Kewayne Wadley

Kalob's Balcony

The wind grew still looking back at vanity,
Habitually taking glances in the street lights passed
As her voice was still fresh on his mind
Gestures made in the height of the moment
As times bliss was hard to let go
Thinking once, twice
The wind still silent as it had no direction to give
his heart grew heavy
Although his mind was free
It was all he could think
The night took him by surprise
What's time he asked to the wind
The moon moved to its edge
A cleft to the bittersweet symphony only he heard
The silent wind graced his face
Suddenly he felt a rush of anger followed by sadness
Slowly the clouds moved one by one
How they seemed to fill the sky as his heart grew numb
The faces of his family crossed his mind, his lover followed
The times spent in heaven turned to hell
The sound of her voice could no longer be heard as his perfect picture crashed to the ground
He sought escape
Now looking toward the sky
He opened the door to his apartment leaving the door open behind him as he walked toward the balcony
For a single moment everything became clear
The stars finally aligned in his eyes only to watch it all fall the moment after
A sharp pain crossed his chest as he could feel his heartbreaking
Lost in the depth of knowing
not being able to see her eyes the way they once sparkled
Knowing another again would never be another again
He spoke to the heavens only to find his angel grown mute
Again he asked the wind what's time
No reply was given
He leaned over the balcony free falling towards the ground that once kissed his feet
Hoping the next destination he reached was better than the one he suffered here
As he soared through the air the air began to taste different
The lights that twinkled dull once before turned bright
As before he hit the ground he realised the answer to his question as he looked back at vanity in retrospect
