Kara Poem by Francis Duggan

Kara

Kara has found a new lover one might say she has been through a few
And he is a bit with the fifty more than fifty one or fifty two
His hair at the ends it is dyed dark for to match up with his dark toupet
Though she too is not a Spring chicken and she has known a better day.

She feels this one will be her soul mate she has been known to say that before
Though she has only known him for a short span for three weeks or at the most four
Herself and Brad all lovey dovey the flower quickest to bloom first to die
And the love bubbling with steaming passion is quick for to boil itself dry.

Kara is in her mid forties and many years beyond her prime
And she has fallen in love often and fallen out of love many a time
Her love life a tangle of heartaches her romances start in joy and end in tears
Some are slow to learn from experience despite the passing of the years.

Her new lover Brad is much older and in dark dye he covers his gray
And Kara says he is right for her but 'tis not the first time she did say
That she at last has found her soul mate she has said that often before
And she surely is one example of how we repeat our mistakes o'er and o'er.
