Keep The Pencil Sharp Poem by William Kruse

Keep The Pencil Sharp

'Keep the pencil sharp, ' he said. 'Try to write some every day.
Be it good or be it bad, just don't let it slip away.
No one else has to read it, no one else has to see.
Just keep the pencil sharp; be as good as you can be.

It doesn't have be a poem and it doesn't have to rhyme.
It can be about the ocean, it can be about time;
It can be about anything you touch, hear or see:
Just keep the pencil, be as good as you can be.

You can't expect a jewel each and every time you try.
Some attempts will make you laugh; some will make you cry.
But, just in case you find yourself a really good idea,
You'll be glad the pencil's sharp and you're as good as you can be.
