Keepsake Poem by Jessica Elizondo

Keepsake

My keepsake hides behind my eyes..

As the light fades, I see your face.
And as we dance, never letting each other go,
I don't want to awake.
A bittersweet tale and its my fault, im certain.
we had it great, but I made a choice.its too late now asI see
her where I used to be... you're happy and in the end that's what I want.
I keep my keepsake tightly in hand,
the memories of you filter like sand,
sliding between my fingers, and I slowly lose my grip.
I miss you, but who is to say its the truth.
Im not sure what a lot of things my mind tells me are anymore,
but when i see you even in my dreams, my heart flutters and a pian in my heart and a hint of regret fill my mind, doesn't that mean anything?
or am i in my own world?
I remember those nights, how can I forget when they play over and over
like a broken record.
You brushed my hair to the side,
I blushed,
you smiled,
And sometimes I regret.
so don't wake me from this dream i have,
it might sound crazy but its the peice of you I still have.

...so tonight my keepsake hides just behind my eyes..
