Kinsmen Of Another Breed Poem by Devanshi Khetarpal

Kinsmen Of Another Breed

His boat queued on the wave
At arms's length.
And he was stuck in moments of serene soliloquy.
And then he clung onto my boat.
I felt surprised as if I had seen a ray catapult into the sea.
He tore away my tarpaulin,
Took away the mass,
The only source of peace that was left with me
Whilst I was on a journey to the Atlantic.
With all due candour, he tore off my boat
And I just adored the shreds that floated on the water.
Then looked down, I was in the chill.
And my feet couldn't flap their wings.
And I was sinking like the Titanic unto the most profound shore
Where the most convoluting waves like gluttonous pigs
Swallowed everything even fire.
And then I thought about him and his cataclysmic act,
And looked upon myself for the last time and saw nothing
But sea, sky, shreds and me amid little thwarted hopes that had sunk.
I swam down pronto.
I couldn't hold onto the cliff.
It was all because of him- the kinsmen of another breed.
