Kiss Of Lovers Poem by Mustafa Marconi

Kiss Of Lovers

Rating: 5.0

I’ve exposed my hidden feelings
Divulged my deepest passions
Explained my awkward appearance
In a truthful, transparent fashion
We have shared intimate conversation
Traded secrets as plutonic friends
Now a silence has come between us
Visions of our union has abruptly signaled our end
Have I come on too strongly
Or is there something I forgot to say
Have you judged this book by it’s weathered cover
You know, it’s not supposed to end this way
I’ve poured my inner being
Into a cup only you can see
You know my status and position
Or do you doubt my honesty
I know you’re uncomfortable deep inside
I can see the discomfort when I look into your eyes
How can I bridge the gap between our minds
How can I convince you in these confusing times
How is it that a man of my strengths
Cannot find the courage to hold your hands
I’ve given you the kiss of lovers
Yet you just don’t understand
It’s easy to turn and walk away
To get up and go our separate ways
So listen to me carefully
Cause my mind is in a daze
Searching for an answer
To something I forgot to say
Do you really not know the way I feel about you?
Or do you now question if my word is true?
How can I bridge the gap between our minds
How can I convince you in these troubling times
You see love is to be shared and treasured
By two people who are meant to be
To give to each other without limitations
Understanding their needs to be spiritually free
Love is not mutually guaranteed
You may love me, and I not you
So don’t lie to me or suffer in silence
Cause one of these days it can happen to you
I’ve poured my deepest feelings
Into a cup only you can see
You know my status and position
Or do you doubt my integrity
It’s a confusing situation
Initiated by desperate hands
I’ve given you the kiss of lovers
Yet you just don’t understand
